ZH Pilates is delighted to announce that we will be offering a brand new Barreconcept class in 2018! Our amazing instructors Rebecca Horner, Zoe Hodgson and Venessa Basson are all expertly trained in Barreconcept and are thrilled to add the class to the fantastic ZH portfolio…

Barreconcept is a unique barre workout which allows you to rediscover your inner ballerina and is gathering admirers the world over. Most barre-based classes use a combination of postures inspired by ballet and workouts such as yoga and Pilates. The barre is used as an aid for balance while doing exercises that focus heavily on core strength training. This is then combined with high reps of small, high-intensity motion movements. BarreConcept is a unique ballet barre workout, set to high-energy music, which dramatically transforms & tones the entire body, whilst simultaneously burning fat.

Barre workouts began when a young ballet dancer, who was banned from dancing on stage by the Nazis due to her Jewish heritage, fled to London in the 1930s. When she became injured, she adapted the positions of ballet to help with her rehabilitation and this new form of workout was born! Nowadays, with the advances in sport science and the in depth understanding of human anatomy, barre workouts have developed an incredible amount and this new Barreconcept is the latest adaptation – created by fitness and Pilates expert, Emma Newham.

BarreConcept is the first barre course in the world to gain international accreditation. This amazing and creative workout will help you hit a wide range of fitness goals, whether you’re looking to burn that stubborn fat, improve flexibility or just tone up. Barreconcept is specifically designed to target and shape the classic problem areas such as the thighs and bum. With high-profile fans including Madonna, Kelly Osbourne and Natalie Portman, it is clear that this workout is gathering a healthy following. So get read dust off those leg warmers and get practising those pliés!
